OFFSHORE TRACKING AND COMMUNICATION
When we are on passage, we have multiple means of keeping you updated and staying in touch.
- USE THIS LINK! https://forecast.predictwind.com/tracking/display/Fearless This link is to our PredictWind tracking page, which is also a menu item under “Where are We?” It will update every hour by pinging our IridiumGo (satellite modem) and will give you a readout of our position, speed, heading, and weather conditions. We can also post chat updates to give you a sense of how we are doing, what we are doing, and what the conditions really are. This is the most useful link to see what we are doing and where we are.
- You can email us through our IridiumGo! Our offshore email account is fearless@myiridium.net. We will check email several times per day. You can send us messages (no attachments or photos, please) and we can email you back. Please note that if you have a private message for someone on the boat, put that in the subject line of your email. For example, type PERSONAL FOR GLENN.
- You can send us an SMS. Our number is +8816-52406412. Go to https://messaging.iridium.com and type in our number you can send a 160-character SMS. It’s fast and free!
If we are on a passage, we will do our best to advise via any means available if there are changes or delays to our travel plans. If we are a few days late or you haven’t heard from us keep the the following in mind. A weather change may have prompted us to slow down or deviate from our original plan. We’ll provide news of interim stops if possible, and of our safe arrival. However, if we are overdue for arrival, please do the following:
- Check out our position. We may just still be on the way but our IridiumGo isn’t working.
- You can attempt to ascertain our position through our tracking page or by our AIS. Go to www.marinetraffic.com and enter our unique MMSI number: 368033970. If we are broadcasting you should see our position. This is also a dropdown menu item under “Where Are We?”
